What Am I Most Proud Of?

I am most proud of the dark room assignment. In the photo I really paid attention to the different shades of gray in a black and white photo. But I also looked to see how much white and black there was. That showed that if there is about an even amount between all three then you have a pretty strong photograph. While doing this assignment I realized that just changing a photo to black and white doesn't always work the way you want it to. Sometimes you have to play around with it in photoshop to get the desired look. This impacted my learning because I really got to understand what takes place in the dark room and how hard it is to come up with a good photograph. While doing this assignment I learned about different, important values in a work of art and how hard it is to achieve that in a dark room. This assignment has really improved and helped my learning tremendously!

Most Memorable Experience

My most memorable experience from this semester is the free choice shooting assignment. I really liked this assignment because you could take photos of anything you wanted. Also, you weren't just randomly taking photos of anything; you knew to use the different rules of photography. I think that this assignment really helped me understand that taking pictures isn't about just pointing a camera, it is looking at a scene and seeing what you want to capture. This helped me in doing the assignment because you really had to think about the picture before you took it. This has impacted my learning tremendously. It has helped me think about photo in a different way. It made me realize that taking photos is an art and it takes skill to become a great photographer.

Who Am I?

I am a freshman girl that goes to Yarmouth High School. I am a three sport athlete. This winter I played three sports including volleyball, hockey, and softball. I am interested in sports and hope to have an awesome high school career. Right now my favorite sport is softball. I play it year round and have tons of fun with my travel team. We practice throughout the winter and play tournaments in the spring, summer, and fall. We have so much fun as a team considering it has been the same core group of girls for three years. With different team mates you have different bonds. That is exactly what it is like on my team. They are all my sisters and we learn to appreciate each other for their strengths not their weaknesses. My goal for my team this summer is to win a tournament. We are a team that wins a lot of games but can't hold it together to win that championship. My team supports each other on and off the field. We are from all over southern Maine so it is hard to get together. We do so much bonding when we are together we have never had a fight in all three years we have played. Although I am not the top player at Yarmouth right now, in the summer I compete with many different amazing athletes that only help me improve as a player. To my team, if you have one bad game that does not mean you are a bad player. It means pick yourself back up and play the next game like it is your last, because you never know, it could be. When I step onto the field everything that has happened that day is erased. The only thing that matters to me is being there for my team mates and doing what ever I can to help us win. It is a real team effort. You win as a team and lose as a team. It is not one player that makes a difference. We all take the responsibility as a team and use the game to improve ourselves. Softball is an important part of my life and I hope to keep it that way for as long as possible.

Free Choice

I chose this photo because I really like how the dog was making eye contact with the camera. I thought that this made it a strong photo. I liked how the dog also stood out from the background. I also took into account the positioning on the page. While getting this shot I really thought about where I was placing the dog and how it was going to be the focal point in this image

Culture Clash

I learned many things from this project. The major thing was how to use photo shop effectively. In the beginning it was very hard to get used to because it was a new tool. The different things that we can do on photoshop are endless and this project has really shown me that. While working I discovered different tools that do the same thing and how to used different tool affectively. There were some challenges that I came across in this project. The major one was remembering how to use it. Another problem I had in the beginning was trying to figure out how to connect 15 images together to make it somewhat realistic. In the end I tried different arrangements to see what the best one looked like. That was this photo and I am happy with how my first photomontage came out. I think that during this project I really got a feel for how the opacity works and how to combine images affectively.

Culture Clash Montage

Juxtaposition/fragmentation-the fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect, the process or state of breaking or being broken into small or separate parts

Point of view-a position from which something or someone is observed

Scale Change-the difference in how much something is moved or changed

Overlapping-Juxtaposition-extend over so as to cover partly
