I look up and see light

Composition, background simplified

This is a great example of background simplified. The subject is in focus (which is the mushroom), but the background is simplified and blurry (which are the trees). Also the background is not needed in this photograph. You can understand the subject without seeing what the background really is. In this picture there is also rule of thirds. The mushroom is not placed in the dead center it is in the bottom two-thirds of the picture.

Shapes, Organic and Geometric

I was in the cafeteria when I took this picture. It was around breakfast time when I was there and I was looking to take some pictures of food. I looked in the food tray and the bagels caught my eye. They were full of color and had different textures. This caught my eye so I looked to see if I could take a picture from a different point of view. I was almost at eye level with the bagels while still being able to see them. I really like this picture because the focal point is the blueberry bagels but you can still see the different kind of bagels in the background.
